Our Story

Since starting out in 2020 as a mobile pizzeria, we’ve sought out the best local & Italian gear to bring you the good stuff. Since then we’ve both been nominated for & won a slew of awards which reflects this effort.

Our Petra flour is from the world renowned Molino Quaglia mill and our head chef, Simon, is now one of only two of their technical flour trainers here in the UK, our tomatoes are from the artisanal Casa Marrazzo in the foothills of Vesuivius and for our fior di latte mozzarella & other cheeses, we go extra to ensure they use only vegetarian rennet in production – no pseudo veggie options here!

Our dough is pre-fermented using a Biga over the course of a couple of days before being hand stretched & cooked at temperatures in excess of 400c for around 90 seconds to give you a crust which is light, airy, flavoursome & more importantly, digestible.

FAQ’s

Do you take bookings?

We are now taking bookings via our online system here! However, you are still more than welcome to walk-in and grab a table. Simply check availability with a member of staff first & we will try our best to fit you in, but as we are a small restaurant we apologise if we are full.

Can we order to take-away?

We do offer take-aways at limited times, depending on how busy the kitchen is. Our online ordering system for takeaways to collect is now live at https://goodeats.io/ilpiratapizzata – if it’s turned on, we’ve got you! If it’s turned off, then we are focussing on our restaurant diners.

Can we hire you for an event?

Currently the restaurant is open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but if you are interested in hiring us to cater for an event, please drop us an email and we will see what we can do!

Do you have vegan options?

We pride ourselves on offering an amazing selection of vegan and vegetarian pizzas – not just uninspiring fake meat! Look out for the (ve) symbol on our menu. We also offer an excellent vegan cheese, and all of our vegetarian pizzas can be made vegan on request. Just ask a member of staff when you place your order.

Do you cater for gluten-free?

Sadly we can’t make our own bases like we do with standard flour in the kitchen due to cross contamination risks (there’s simply not the separation as we have to use flour on our prep benches, which gets airborne very quickly when stretching out).

We’ve spent time looking to source gluten-free bases which match our own dough but we simply can’t find any & they’re far too expensive for these to be sustainable. In the longer term, we’d be keen to develop our own off-site to bake separately, so whilst it would still be unsuitable for those with severe allergies, it would allow those with coeliac to dine with us.

For those looking to reduce gluten in their diets due to IBS or similar, we make our pizzas using a Biga preferment alongside natural unrefined flours from Petra (which are glysophate & potassium bromate free) meaning our pizzas are a lot more digestible than most others out there.
